Snowmelt

FEC Heliports has developed several options to address your helipad snowmelting needs. An automated heating system ensures that your helipad is always clear; providing your pilots and patients with the safety they deserve as they are transported to and from your facility.

Our snowmelt system is designed to work exclusively with our aluminum rooftop and ground applications and can be installed during the initial construction of the helipad or at a later date, as your budget allows. This is an option not available when building a concrete helipad. In addition, the aluminum option allows complete access to your snowmelt system for ease of regular maintenance.

Pairing our Helomat ground option with the snowmelt system allows a retrofit option to customers who have existing concrete pads that may not currently have  a heating system or that have a failed system. Rather than a demolition of the current concrete pad, the Helomat can be set right on top of the existing pad with one of our snowmelting systems running through it.

Your snowmelt options include either a glycol mix system (hydronic), or an electric heat cable system. Both systems are controlled automatically by the use of snow sensors which monitor both temperature and precipitation. When the conditions are right for snow or ice formation, the system is automatically activated; otherwise the system is idle.

Ice and snow problems will be virtually eliminated when you let FEC Heliports custom design your helistop with the most efficient snow melting system available.
