Designing a Hospital or Commercial Helipad

The usage of helicopters in the commercial and hospital markets has exploded over the past 10 years.  Along with this increase in activity the need for safe and reliable landing locations has become a top priority.  During this time, the FAA, NFPA, ICAO and helicopter operators worldwide have developed an extensive set of design criteria that deals with every type of helipad from the traditional ground concrete pad to the specialty rooftop aluminum design. Over the past 15 years, FEC Heliports has grown along with this industry and has taken a leading role in helping to write and develop the FAA Advisory Circular on Helipad Design along with other international standards.  Take advantage of our experience and FEC can do as much or as little of the helipad design that best fits your project.  We will deal with locating the pad to meet the clearance criteria, designing the safest ingress and egress flight paths, filing the proper paperwork, designing the support structure and making sure all the required safety items are included with your helipad design.  This will allow you the additional time to focus on design aspects of your project that you know best!  Below is a partial list of the things FEC Heliports can offer along with some other items we hope will help you get started

  • Site Survey & Recommendations Report - FEC will find the best location for your pad and provide budget pricing to build
  • Complete Engineering Package - FEC will provide a drawing package for your project that anyone can use to bid
