FEC Heliports’ PORTAPAD is a portable helipad system designed for temporary use and remote sites with limited access or uneven terrain. Made from high-strength aluminum, the PORTAPAD delivers all the benefits of our permanent helipads — including durability, safety, and FAA-compliant design — in a lightweight, modular format.

Available in two standard sizes, this portable helipad can be assembled or dismantled by a four-person team in under eight hours, with minimal or no site prep required. Adjustable legs make it suitable for sloped or rugged landscapes, while the elevated platform enhances ground crew safety by raising the aircraft tail rotor above head height.

For added protection, the PORTAPAD is also available with optional perimeter safety netting. Whether you’re supporting emergency response, remote medical access, or temporary industrial operations, FEC’s portable helipads are a reliable, long-term solution.

Desert Locations

PORTAPAD significantly reduces Brownout and increases Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention. The force of the aircraft’s rotor wash is borne by the aluminum helideck rather than the ground which is likely to include dust, debris, sand, and other foreign objects. PORTAPAD is ideal for desert locations and other remote terrains.

Remote Locations

PORTAPAD can be installed in extremely remote locations where road access is non-existent and/or the terrain can not be leveled. The adjustable legs and foot pads allow PORTAPAD to conform to uneven terrain with little or no site preparation needed. Ideal for:

Helomat

For retrofitting an existing concrete surface and new ground installations

FEC Heliports’ HELOMAT aluminum surface is a robust alternative to traditional concrete helipads, tailored for ground or retrofit applications. Made from 6000 Series aluminum, these 1″ tall x 1′ wide extruded panels interlock seamlessly, providing a sturdy, low-maintenance surface that surpasses the durability of concrete. For new ground helipads preparation is as simple as the same compacted aggregate base that you would use for a concrete pad. For retrofitting an existing concrete surface, we place it right on top.

Our aluminum rooftop system was designed from experience for any rooftop application. Whether designing a helipad for an existing facility or for a new building, our HELISLAT aluminum rooftop system is your best solution. It offers the strength of concrete while remaining lightweight, typically eliminating the need for structural reinforcements.
